Artist’s Statement
I originally started to paint in watercolours only as a means of relaxation, the pastime soon became an obsession then a full time occupation.
Having no formal art training has enabled me to develop my own style free from outside or established influences. I am passionate about my work and hope that I paint from the heart, capturing the mood of the scene
In my own style pursuing my artistic vision regardless of fashion trends.
I find inspiration through the ever changing light and weather of the British Isles, in particular I love the wild places with rugged awe inspiring landscapes.
I paint using a limited palette allowing the pigments to merge on the paper using the unique and frustrating qualities of watercolour to the full.
I attempt to produce paintings that allow the viewer to escape for a while, to ponder, to remember, allowing a brief moment of respite from today’s hectic world.
